Across
the road from Mack's Apples farm stand in Londonderry NH, near the entrance
to the pick your own section of the orchard, is a quiet little pond
tucked behind a barn. On this misty fall morning I was startled by the
departure of a pair of blue herons who had been just out of sight behind
the grasses to the right, apparently searching for breakfast in the
still waters.
