One of my favorite
things about New Hampshire is her old covered bridges. Blair Bridge
spans the Pemigewasset River east of Rte 3 in Campton, NH. She was built
in 1869 with truss and arch construction and is almost 293 feet long.
The first bridge on this site was built in 1829 and burned down by a
man who claimed that God told him to do it. The town voted to build
a new bridge when a doctor, trying to ford the river on horseback, lost
his horse to the strong current and was unable to make the crossing.
